Celtic House Blessing (Bless this House )
Bless this house, o'Lord we pray, make it safe by night and day
Bless these walls, so firm and stout, keep want and trouble out
Bless the roof and chimney tall, let thy peace lie over all
Bless the door that it may prove, ever open to joy and love
Bless these windows shining bright, letting in Gods heavenly light
Bless the folk who dwell within, keep them pure and free from sin
Bless us that one day we may dwell, o'Lord with thee.

What is Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity?
Not sure what the
project is all about?
Habitat for Humanity’s mission is to work “in partnership with God and people everywhere, from all walks of life, to develop communities with people in need by building and renovating houses so that there are decent houses in decent communities in which every person can experience God’s love and can live and grow into all that God intends”. In 2004 Thrivent Financial for Lutherans began a financial partnership with Habitat for Humanity, and for each Thrivent Builds project provides 55 percent of the funding for the build. The remaining funding is provided by Habitat for Humanity Lansing (35%) and through contributions from local participant churches and through Gifts in Kind.

How can you help?
There are a number of ways that you can contribute to the Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity project. While some of the work on each project is completed by professional tradesmen, Habitat for Humanity relies heavily on volunteers to work side by side with the homeowners to complete the project. There are a number of ways to volunteer, including:
You DO NOT need construction or home improvement experience to be able to volunteer to work on a Habitat for Humanity build. All you need is the desire to help out our community and to have fun in the process. Participating in a Thrivent Builds project is very rewarding, and it doesn’t hurt that you will gain valuable experience that can come in handy when working around your own house.
In addition to volunteering, Habitat for Humanity also welcomes Gifts In Kind. This includes donating building materials needed for the build or providing labor for tasks such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC or drywall finishing that volunteers are not licensed or qualified to complete.
If you are interested in participating in this year’s Thrivent Builds project, in making a Gift in Kind, or if you would just like more information before deciding please contact Kyle Kopper (click here). And don't forget to check back on a regular basis to get updates on the project and to catch up on the latest build news.
